IF you are an unsigned band or act from Essex you might want to hurry up and enter your chances into the Undiscovered live music contest, if you want to join the ranks of Katie Forkings, Arcaves and Little Donkey.

The contest, which is open to acts across the whole county of any age or genre, is hosted by the Essex Music Development Agency.

There are two categories to enter - Solo Acts and Bands - the winners of which will be judged by music industry people including festival organisers, musicians, radio presenters, producers, studio owners and venue owners.

There are no audience votes.

The closing date is Thursday November 30.

Entry is free, and it's open to artists of any age, any genre and to soloists, duo or bands.

Those chosen to progress further after the first round of judging will be invited to perform live at a regional final.

These take place in January 2018 (solo acts) and February 2018 (bands) where the winners of each will go through to a grand finals in 2018 held at the Cramphorn Theatre in Chelmsford and Colchester Arts Centre, Colchester.
