A COMMENT made by presenter Chris Brooks on Radio Essex, about Platinum selling singer Jason Derulo who was videoed randomly popping into a Zumba class and joining in the routines to his hit song Tip Toe, has led to the breakfast team deciding to actually join a Leigh Zumba class for a radio show special and broadcast it live.

Now you are being invited to go along, have a laugh, a dance, burn some calories and take part.

Radio Essex's breakfast show team Chris Brooks and Abbie Norbury have been talking about the class live on air, which they plan to join in and stream live at the end of this month.

The class - Zumba With Lauras - is run by Laura Jordan and Laura DiMartino twice a week at different locations in Leigh.

Laura Jordan, explained: "I didn't know anything about this until one of my students said she was going to bring a buddy to class, who was a presenter off Radio Essex. I just thought, 'oh that'll be nice'. I didn't realise she meant the presenters were actually coming to join in with a routine and broadcast the show from our class! It turns out my student had actually been having some banter with the Radio Essex presenters, texting in and telling them they should join our Zumba class, in light of the Jason Derulo comment."

Presenter Chris Brooks confirmed the duo will be going along to perform the routine live, on the planned date of February 28.

"We were talking about the fact that I’d seen a YouTube video - Jason Derulo popped into a Zumba class and started joining in and doing the routines for his songs - I’m not sure how talking about that turned into me and Abbie heading to a Zumba class. Safe to say this was more of Abbie’s idea than mine!" he said. "The planned date is Wednesday February 28 in the evening."

Laura added: "We are now going over the choreography in class with our students and learning the routine so we are ready for the live broadcast. Anyone is welcome to come and join us, any age, any ability. Just come, wear something comfortable, have a laugh and move!

"Classes are on Monday evenings at Strictly Smartz, in Elm Road, Leigh, at 8pm and on Wednesday evenings at St. Margaret's Church, Lime Avenue, Leigh, at 8pm.

"It's £5 per class and under 16's go free with a paying adult. There is no need to book. Just turn up with a bottle of water and a towel to wipe your brow!"
