Idris Elba has revealed he still wants Luther to make it to the big screen.
The 42-year-old actor, who played Detective John Luther in the BBC One series, admitted he is hoping that a film adaptation of the show will be made.
“There isn’t a Luther film at the minute. We are going to go back to do more Luther, but we’re not quite ready for a Luther film. It’s coming,” he said.
Idris will reprise his role for a TV special, although he remained tight-lipped over which of his co-stars would also be returning.
“We’re going to do a two-hour special. But I hope we end up on the big screen! That’s what I want to do,” he added.
Meanwhile, he cannot wait to present at the Oscars.
The Wire star, who next stars in The Gunman alongside Sean Penn and Javier Bardem, is set to hand out a gong at the star-studded ceremony on February 22, alongside Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew McConaughey and Meryl Streep.
“I’m very chuffed. It’s a great experience to have,” he said.
“It’s nice – it’s the greatest stage and the greatest awards ceremony in the world for an actor. And hopefully one day, I’d like to be nominated so we’ll see.”
