James Corden has admitted it’s going to take time to get his US talk show off the ground.

The British star is taking over from Craig Ferguson on The Late Late Show across the pond.

And he told Variety: “It’s like eating a souffle after it’s been in the oven for 10 minutes. These things are going to take time to rise.”

The 36-year-old father-of-two, who is married to Julia Carey, kicks-off his high-profile new job on March 23.

According to the magazine, he landed the late night role after pitching a sitcom at CBS.

“It’s madness, really. When I got the job, I’d never even been on an American talk show,” James said. “It’s a bold choice. A really bold choice.”

The former Gavin And Stacey star admitted that he was nervous.

But he said: “It’s good nerves that spur you on, and bad nerves that debilitate you. If I can find the good nerves, I’ll be very grateful.”

And he added: “I don’t know if I’m making a huge mistake. But I’d rather regret doing something than not doing something.”
