Broadchurch fans, rejoice! David Tennant has confirmed that at least two scripts for the third series have already been penned.

Fans were left on the edge of their seat when the second series ended with Danny’s killer Joe Miller being shockingly cleared of murder and forced out of town by his wife and former neighbours.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain about what he knew of the plot for the third series, David said: “I have absolutely no idea. I genuinely don’t know. I don’t know what he’ll do (writer Chris Chibnall) and I don’t know what direction he’ll take it in.

“I can’t wait to read… there are scripts I am told, there are two scripts I think, but I have no clue what is in them, I don’t suppose I’ll know till next year sometime.”

It’ll be a long time before it reaches screen though as Olivia Colman, who plays police officer Ellie Miller, had previously confirmed to Radio 4′s Clive Anderson that the show wouldn’t start filming until next summer.

Both Olivia and David, who plays DI Alex Hardy, will be returning for the third, and reportedly final, series.

David is currently busy promoting his new Netflix series Jessica Jones, where he plays villain Kilgrave.

But even with Hollywood calling, David revealed he’d still love to tread the boards in a Christmas pantomine.

The Doctor Who star said: “I would love to do a panto, I think I would like to be a dame or maybe Buttons, I don’t know. There’s still time for this year, all offers being accepted.”

Speaking about working in theatre as opposed to on TV, David revealed he missed it.

“It’s funny because I started in the theatre and for many years that’s pretty much all I did, the occasional episode of Rab C Nesbitt or something, but that’s how I made my living and I still see that as the day job, so if I haven’t done theatre for a while I feel like something’s a bit amiss,” he said.
