Daniel Craig has hinted Spectre could be his final outing as suave agent James Bond.

The 47-year-old actor has portrayed 007 in three movies – Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall – and teased he could hang up his Secret Service spy hat after he reprises the role for the fourth time in Spectre.

Asked if he would like to do another Bond movie, he told Esquire UK: “At this moment, no. I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit. But we’ll see.”

“I don’t know. I really don’t know. Honestly,” he added about his 007 future. “I’m not trying to be coy. At the moment I can’t even conceive it.”

Whether or not he is back as secret agent, Daniel – who is married to actress Rachel Weisz – said he is proud of being a part of the Bond legacy.

“(I will miss) doing the films; just that. You know, it sounds awful but I’ve been left a wealthy man by doing this,” he explained.

“I can afford to live very comfortably. Things are taken care of. Family and kids are taken care of and that’s a massive relief in anybody’s life. I’m incredibly fortunate. But the other stuff that goes along with it… I’ve done my best.”

Daniel, who has shared steamy scenes with Naomie Harris, Gemma Arterton and Eva Green, also revealed how he has tried to play down Bond’s reputation as a womaniser.

“Hopefully, my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic as (earlier incarnations). The world has changed,” he said.

“I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies.”

He also cast doubt on Bond’s coolness, saying: “He’s very f****** lonely. There’s a great sadness.

“He’s f****** these beautiful women but then they leave and it’s sad. And as a man gets older, it’s not a good look. It might be a nice fantasy – that’s debatable – but the reality, after a couple of months…”

As for Spectre, which opens in UK cinemas on October 26, Daniel teased: “It’s Skyfall times 10! Spectre is a celebration of all that’s Bond.”
