Egypt holidays are a relatively new concept in the world of foreign holidays. Following years of political unrest the Prime Minister of Israel, Menachim Begin and the President of Egypt, Anwar Sadat signed a Peace Treaty in 1978, and the Israeli occupation of the Sinai Peninsular was over.
Egypt holidays have more than most to offer with stunning beauty, modern resorts and a fascinating history that dates back over 4000 years. Egypt holidays are available all year round due to the exceptional temperatures which can often hit 35°, and with 5 hour flight times from the UK, they are the perfect holiday destination. Egypt is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north and Red Sea to the east, and also benefits from having the longest river in the world flowing through it, this means there has to be an Egypt holiday to suit everyone.
A Nile Cruise offers the ideal opportunity to see many of the ancient wonders of the world in one exciting and awe-inspiring trip.
On the Mediterranean Coast is the thriving Marsa Mutrah resort where holidays revolve around the beaches. What better advert can you get than the fact that Cleopatra once bathed in the waters near here...
Further down in the Red Sea Region you will be spoilt for choice with Sharm el Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada and Marsa Alam to choose from. The Red Sea is just as famous for its life beneath the waves as that above with the occasional shipwreck to explore, colourful corals and a captivating marine life. If you don't feel like diving then try the minisubs, snorkelling or glass bottomed boat rides.
Each of the main hotels will have their own stretch of private beach, most with long wooden jetties stretching far into the sea, perfect for swimming and snorkelling from or just watching the tiny little inquisitive fish playing underneath.
Marsa Alam is the perfect choice for a nice quiet holiday. This town began life as a sleepy little fishing village and now thrives as an up and coming tourist area although the harbour is still a main feature. There are also a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants along the sea front.
Hurghada is slightly livelier and has some superb guest houses and hotels to choose from. Some of the very best dive sites can be seen at Giftin Island just nearby, often top of the list on many divers' agendas. Just along the coast at El Gouna you can even enjoy a game of golf.
Sharm el Sheikh is definitely the shining star on Egypt holidays at the moment. Growing in popularity every year, choose to stay near the bustling resort of Naama Bay or some of the quieter resorts stretching out along the coast. Taba Heights and Taba are located just near the border with Israel and both make the ideal base for exploring Jordan and Petra City.
You'll also get plenty of opportunity to explore the desert with jeep safaris, quad excursions and camel trekking. Shopping is a great experience on Egypt holidays so don't let the fact that you are expected to haggle put you off, it can be great fun and isn't nearly as scary as you might think. Most hotels also run excursions to Luxor and the Pyramids at Giza, often involving an early start or overnight stay, but well worth the effort. The only difficult thing about Egypt holidays is deciding exactly which resort to go to in the first place.
