Rob Lowe has landed a reality TV series which will see him hunting for ghosts and aliens.

The former West Wing actor, 53, and his sons Matthew and John Owen will travel across America investigating legends and supernatural mysteries in The Lowe Files.

Rob said: “Since I was a kid I’ve loved unexplained legends, strange phenomena and the scary, supernatural stories told around campfires.

“When I became a father I shared those tales with my two sons. Together we bonded over Bigfoot, UFOs, and every creepy and bizarre story we could find, passionately debating if they were real… or not.

“And we swore that someday the three of us would go on our own adventure to find out. That day has come.”

Each of the nine episodes of the show, airing on the A&E Network in the US, will see the trio seek out a spooky legend to investigate.

Their adventures include exploring an “alien base” 2,000ft under water off the coast of Malibu, and visiting an abandoned boys’ reformatory in the hope of connecting with spirits.

Rob has been teasing the series on Instagram, posting photographs from locations under #SecretProject.

The latest image shows the former Parks And Recreation star and his sons walking through a dark tunnel with torches in their hands.

He told his 432,000 followers: “Coming this summer on A&E! My boys and I fulfil our lifelong dream of searching for freaky, unsolved phenomenon. Fun, funny and legit scary!”

The Lowe Files debuts this summer.
