THERE’S an adventure in words taking place next week, thanks to Colchester literary bloggers Kate Neilan and Rob Chilver.

Rob, who works in Waterstones bookshop at Essex University, started the Adventures with Words website four years ago.

He says: “I was talking about books all day and just found myself talking about them when I got home as well.

“It started off as just a blog, but has really grown since then with reviews, articles and podcasts all being posted.”

These include anything from children’s books to teen reads, new releases and book events.

While most of the website’s visitors come from the UK, Adventure With Words attracts readers from the US, Australia and even as far away as India and Brazil.

The weekly podcast is available to stream via adventureswithwords.com, but can also be download from iTunes, and heard on Stitcher radio and British Public Radio.

Rob says: “Since we began podcasting, our shows have been downloaded more than 24,000 times.”

From this weekend, the pair will certainly have plenty to talk about as they will be at Essex Book Festival.

The pair asked historical novelists Essie Fox and Wendy Wallace to come along and they will be exploring the them English and the Exotic.

Kate adds: “It’s going to be very exciting and, of course, it will be recorded for a podcast that will then be available from our website.”
