THIS Saturday sees the heartfelt and thought provoking play To Finally Feel come to the Clifftown Theatre.
Inspired by a true story, poet and playwright Georgie de Suys’ latest work tells the story of Donna, a child raised as a boy, who flourished as a woman.
The bill's strapline reads: "Douglas, who’s Donna?" Just like that his eyes lit up. "Donna’s me, Mum."
These words may give you an idea of this gentle yet "close-to-the-bone" story, which was inspired by a family friend of Georgie's.
Georgie, 21, is a graduate of the East15 Acting School, based at the Clifftown Theatre Southend, and the Corbett Theatre in Loughton.
The cast includes the emerging non binary trans actor Ed Zephyr as Donna (pictured), who has been featured in national press and radio.
To Finally Feel has been directed by Declan McLaughlin and was produced by the TransEssex Theatre Project and Brass Budgie Productions.
It has been funded by Arts Council England and Southend Borough Council's 125 Fund.
Tickets are available via clifftowntheatre.co.uk for £10 and £6.
The show starts at 7:30pm.
The Clifftown Theatre is in Nelson Street, Southend.
