Identical twins who have risen to Youtube stardom are in the running to be named Best British Vloggers.

Niki and Sammy Albon, 25, from Canvey, have been racking up millions of views and hundreds of thousands of subscribers on their Youtube channel.

The pair of brothers will attend BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards this weekend after being nominated in the vlogging category.

Vloggers record their own shows on home cameras and post them on the internet for others to enjoy.

The Canvey duo first started vlogging when they finished university, openly admitting that watching Youtube took up far too much of their study time.

Niki said: “We have been doing this for nearly four years now and have come so far.

“Since we finished university we have been taking it seriously, but we spent a lot of time procrastinating watching Youtube during our degrees.

“Three years later and it is a dream come true. It is so rewarding.

“We now do this full time, which is amazing, and it has opened so many doors for us for the future.”

The pair are already reaping the rewards of vlogging success after doing social reporting for the BBC on both the BBC Music Awards and The Voice.

And you may see them on your screen in coming years as they look to break into the mainstream media.

Niki added: “Our long-term goal is 100 per cent to present in the mainstream media.

“As a pair, I think we are quite entertaining. I think twins in general can be quite fascinating, we are a bit odd and entertaining in our own dynamic.

“We are just being ourselves really and try to have fun.”

The vloggers aim to upload two videos to Youtube and one to Facebook every week, covering a wide range of topics, from trying out American sweets to hitting the streets to talk to the public about hot topics.

But despite their growing stardom, it was still a huge shock to receive the nomination.

Niki said: “It was really unexpected. We went as guests last year but it came as a complete shocks to be asked to be involved.

“Fortunately, we know them all and are friends with a few of them. Youtube and vlogging creates a tight knit community, they are all really talented.

“We are not too hung up on winning, it is a bit of friendly competition that we are just happy to be nominated for.”
