Back in town - Des O’Connor will be at the Towngate Theatre
HE’S one of the UK’s most popular entertainers and Des O’Connor will be back before delighted fans when he appears at the Towngate this weekend.
The eternally ebullient star will return to the Basildon theatre for a night of anecdotes, laughs and entertainment as he takes to the stage.
As successful on the telly as he has been a recording artist, he’s a true gem of the golden days of entertainment – and is not showing many signs of slowing down.
Over the years, he’s presented shows including the Des O’Connor Show, Today With Des and Mel, Take Your Pick and, more recently, Countdown, where he replaced Des Lynam to join Carol Vordeman on the hit show.
And he’s had chart hits too.
He has recorded an impressive 36 albums over the years – undeterred by mocking criticism from the likes of Morecambe and Wise, which he always took in good humour.
Des O’Connor is at the Towngate, St Martin’s Square, Basildon, on Sun-day, March 18, at 7.30pm.
