Leigh Farmers’ Market has run another hugely-successful event this month.
The market has been a long-held tradition organised on behalf of Leigh Town Council, and it takes place on the third Friday of each month, running from 9am until noon.
Stallholders must grow or make products themselves, with a variety of organic and local produce on offer.
There were fresh vegetables, ale, pies, crepes, sweets, and Christmas handicrafts.
The farmers’ market is one of the longest running markets in Essex, and it prides itself in delivering local produce to residents.
Regular stallholders include Bean and Boy hand made soap, multi-award winners Elixirs of Life from Canvey, Gambardeli which provides vegan catering, Flower and Home, independent brewers Hoppily and Urban Farmers.
Abbie Cotterell, assistant officer at Leigh Town Council, said: “We had a lot more customers since the farmers’ market was opened for an extra hour. People on their lunch breaks can pop over and buy something.
“We had 25 stalls and three of them are craft stalls. We do encourage more people who want to run a craft stall to get in touch with the council.”
