WRAP up for some heartwarming Christmas comfort when the Southend YMCA, Yardarm Folk Orchestra and Sea of Voices Choir get together to put on a special fundraising concert next week at Prittlewell Priory.

The event will also feature a special guest performance by renowned English folk musician (now living in Canada) Nancy Wallace!

It all takes place on Saturday December 9 from 4pm - 6:30pm.

Organiser Alex Milne, who works as a manager at Southend YMCA, said: "As well as this, our very own young musicians from the Southend YMCA All-In-Music studio will be performing a variety of Christmas songs.

"We will have students singing or playing instruments along with the SYMCA music tutors, providing the young people the chance to perform in a professional environment.

"Performers will include popular local duo BaVard, who have been raising money for SYMCA through busking and have recently won an award from SYMCA in recognition of their work. [Last Sunday the band also won another award for Best Original Artist in the South East Entertainment Youngstars Awards].

"There will be some early-music repertoire from the Yardarm Folk Orchestra as well as a range of festive music from all partners during the concert in this amazing historic building and setting. We think it will be a really special festive occasion for all to enjoy. After the concert there will be mulled wine and mince pies and a chance for the audience to talk to the musicians."

Places are limited due to the size of the venue, so tickets are being sold in advance only via southendymca.org.uk/priory2017, for £10 per adult, £5 under 14's.

Children under five go free.
