ONE of the country's most popular and award winning soul clubs - said to be the "number one outside London" - is coming back to Canvey Island this Saturday with special guest Caister DJs.

Tony Matthews and Jazzbod (aka Mark O'Brien), will be the special guests of Soul By the Jetty, at Canvey Island's Lobster Smack, in Haven Road.

The pair will be joining the club's resident hosts, Jonny Layton (Caister), Mark Messent (Lagoona Soul) and Brian 'Rev' Kelly (Caister BBQ and Lagoona Soul).

The night promises to be "monster", full of "top quality jazz, funk, soul, nu-jazz, soulful house, boogie tunes and more!"

Soul By the Jetty says its aim is to pay homage to the spirit of the of the original Gold Mine club, and will spin classic tracks plus newer cuts "that would probably get played if the world's best soul club was still open!"

Admission is by wristband only, available for £10 by contacting soulbythejetty@virginmedia.com or calling 07989 591399. Online sales are also being made via wegottickets.com, where people can collect the wristband on the night.

The entry price includes a gift from Santa.

It all takes place from 8pm until 1am.
