APPARENTLY "there ain't no party like a Super Hans party", and if all the hype is to be believed, this could be true, with one such shindig coming to a club near you.

If you're a fan of the Channel 4 hit sitcom Peep Show, which propelled comedy actors David Mitchell and Robert Webb into the limelight when it started in 2003 until 2015, you will know who Super Hans is.

The eccentric, drug addled character, played by film and TV actor and comedian Matt King, became one of the most popular characters on the show.

After Peep Show ended, Matt King announced in 2016 he was going to take his Super Hans alter-ego to the masses by becoming a "real life" DJ playing dance, and kicked off with a sell out tour, and killer festival shows at Glastonbury and Leeds, with praise from the likes of NME, Mixmag and The Guardian.

He is now on the road again with his Big Beat Manifesto tour and his crew The Peace Posse, bringing "love, miracles and big ketty-beats to a city near you".

If you're wondering what kind of music to expect, Super Hans has been reported as saying: "“I like to think of myself as a many genre-d beast. A sort of musical octopus. There’s dancey stuff, uplifting stuff, downlifting stuff and a few proper stone-cold classics from the 70s and 80s (and one from the 1840s) which I’ve beefed right up so they rattle your ribcage and make you weep with joy at the same time. Watching me do a set is like watching acid take over a human mind. But it’s a man and some decks doing it, not lysergic acid diethylamide." (NME).

Super Hans' Big Beat Manifesto will be coming to Chinnerys, Marine Parade on Southend seafront, on Saturday, April 7 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are £15, available from seetickets.com.

Incidentally, if you didn't already know, there is a lot more to Matt King than Super Hans.
