TOP UK techno producer and DJ Mark Broom is back in his old stomping ground of Southend to launch a new transatlantic techno record label, Vegas Dirt, created by Southend award-winning film-maker and actor Eddie Bammeke, and former Jesus Jones support DJ and Stripped Music label founder Norman H.

The very first release off the label - a four track EP - is by electro outfit 15 Dead Minutes and is a called The Edge of Chaos.

It features remixes by Mark Broom; DJ and producer Jacob Phono and Underworld's Darren Emerson.

The occasion is going to be marked with a special launch party, to take place in Southend this Friday, February 2.

Eddie said: "The Sunrooms will be back and alive again for one night only reunion style, to take place at Annie’s Bar (formerly the Sunrooms).

"There is no better place to celebrate the launch of all this than the place where it all began. When I think of the Sunrooms, I think spiritual home for heads, dreads and all things good in the 1990’s party scene.”

He added: "15 Dead Minutes are from Southend and Bournemouth and produce hard edge upbeat electro. Their music is a soundscape for the future of the dance-floor. Essex man Mark Broom, who grew up in Laindon but used to hang out in Southend a lot with rave act N-Joi, is a truly prolific artist. He has a myriad of production credits to his name having worked with world renowned labels such as Mo-Wax, Warp, R&S, Soma, Ifach (with Baby Ford), Bpitch Control, Platzhirsch, Rotary Cocktail, Material and more recently 2020 Vision plus Saved, Cocoon, Blueprint and his own label Beard Man.

"It all started in the summer of '89 when he landed in Tenerife on vacation and stumbled across the delights of the emerging sounds of Chicago and Acid House. Returning to the UK, he immediately went in search of this new found music, a pair of turntables were bought and with it a musical career was born.

"He has also had the pleasure of reworking material from artists such as Dubfire, Edit Select, F.U.S.E, Dj 3000 and Alan Fitzpatrick. Mark has had a string of high class releases over the last 12 months, highlights being the Acclaimed SQ18 EP on Cocoon, M28 EP on Gynoid Audio, Vault 5 for Ostugut and a new project with James Ruskin as 'The Fear Ratio'."

Vegas Dirt aims to introduce the newest and best techno, electro and electronica artists from both UK and Las Vegas.

Eddie, who divides his time between the UK and Las Vegas, is currently working on introducing the music via a gritty Vegas Dirt TV pilot he has been commissioned to make, based around the exciting Vegas club scene and a music night out there.

“In Vegas, it's like the clubbing scene here 20 years ago with a non-stop top sunrise", said Eddie. "There is no better place to open a venue based around a music label."

Admission to the launch party at Annie's Bar, Market Place, Southend, is free.

As well as Mark Broom on the decks and 15 Dead Minutes performing live, the evening also has the return of local DJ’s Norman H, Stewart Lowman (outlet), The Squiffers live, Ruben Sandle and O-Man plus Sound rig provided by the subsonic Bio- System.

It all kicks off at 9pm until 3am.

15 Dead Minutes' The Edge Of Chaos featuring remixes by Mark Broom, Darren Emerson and Jacob Phono is released on vinyl and digital download in March.
