INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed and award winning jazz singer Barb Jungr is coming to Southend to sing The Beatles, as part of an exciting collaboration with Emmy and Grammy award winning pianist, orchestrator and musical director, John McDaniel.

The pair will be performing at Annie's Jazz in Thorpe Bay, on Tuesday February 13, in a show called 'Come Together - Barb Jungr and John McDaniel sing The Beatles'.

The visit comes as part of a "very special seven date" tour of the UK, at the club which takes place in Thorpe Hall Golf Club, Thorpe Hall Avenue, every Tuesday.

Barb and John will perform a programme of "innovatively re-arranged" Beatles songs, which allows Jungr to "use her magical ability to revitalise these well loved and familiar numbers by theatrically dramatising the lyrics".

For Jungr too the show has a personal touch, having grown up only 40 miles from Liverpool.

Across her 40-year career, Barb Jungr has been internationally celebrated for combining immaculate vocal technique, impassioned performance, piercing insight and beautifully unexpected musical arrangements to reinterpret European and American popular songs in a manner, which The New York Times described as "revelatory”.

She has a reputation as being a funny performer, who is "often hilarious".

Originally emerging from the alternative cabaret scene of the 1970s and 80s, and cutting her teeth alongside the likes of Julian Clary, Alexei Sayle and Arnold Brown, Barb's ability to deliver shows which are alive and spontaneous, is second to none.

When paired with Barb, Broadway legend John McDaniel is a pianist, singer, arranger and 'partner in banter'.

He has worked on Broadway as a conductor, musical director, and musical/vocal arranger and he is also the go-to accompanist for the very top tier of cabaret stars in the USA including Betty Buckley, Tyne Daly, Brooke Shields and Patti LuPone.

The gig takes place at 7pm.
