PICTURE this... folk music, lots of ale for sale, all in a fabulous setting overlooking the water on the end of the pier.... what's not to like?
The Folk and Ale Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday April 14 and 15, at the Royal Pavilion at the end of Southend Pier.
From midday until 6pm on both days, a plethora of bands will entertain the crowds.
Saturday's bill includes Joe Migdal, Dave Symonds, the Archers, Bernard Hoskin, Rom Shanty Crew, the Jones Boys, Mains'l Haul, Revival, Hoy Shanty Crew, Mucky Dennis and The Grifters, Grand Reunion and the Mudlarks.
Sunday's line up includes Umbrella Factory, Captain Morgan's Rum Do, Colette Meury, Chris Robson Band, Goodnight Crow, Hoy Shanty Crew, Bob's Barbershop Boys, Fran Foote and Belinda Kempster, Angel and The Melodyhorns, Emerald Hill, the Famous Potatoes and Arfur Do and the Toe Rags.
Although admission to the Royal Pavilion will be free, there is a charge as usual, for use of the pier train, at £5.20 (adult), £2.60 (child) or £13 (family) for a return ticket.
