IT'S the weekend again and we've put together a few things to keep you busy.

1. CANVEY'S Christmas extravaganza will be held this weekend. Superheroes, princess and other characters will be turning up at the Paddocks in Long Road throughout the day. There will be Christmas stalls, Santa and his grotto are all on show throughout.

2. A CHARITY Christmas craft fair is being held at St Peter’s Church Hall, in Eastwood Road North, Eastwood, between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, December 12. The event, featuring a Santa’s grotto, is in aid of Cancer Research UK. For more information, contact wackymess@gmail.com.

3. A CAR boot sale is taking place at Southend Fire Station in aid of good causes. The Christmas-themed sale, at the Sutton Road station, is on Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Sellers should arrive by 9.3am, and it costs £5 per stall pitch. Proceeds go towards the Firefighters Charity and other community projects.

4. A CAT re-homing show is to be held this Saturday at Shalynn Cattery, in Prince Avenue, Westcliff, from 10.30am to noon. The event, run by the Southend and District branch of Cats Protection, is free to attend. If you want to adpot a cat, it will cost £70, or a pair are priced at £120. For more information, call 01702 710630.

5. A VINTAGE and handmade fair is taking place on Saturday. Leigh Community Centre, in Elm Road, Leigh, will host the free event between 10am and 4pm and will feature vintage clothing, jewellery, and homeware in more than 40 stalls, and the centre café will also be open. 6. YOUNG people interested in archaeology can learn about Christmas through the ages in Southend. Prittlewell Priory in Victoria Avenue will be hosting the Southend Young Archaeologists Club’s Historic Christmas event between 10am and noon on Saturday. 7. A CHURCH is holding a Christmas carol service. The All Saints Church, London Road, Vange, will hold the service on Sunday, December 13, from 3pm until 4pm. For more information, call 07729 817164.

8. CYCLISTS can get safety advice from firefighters at an event in Hadleigh on Saturday. Firefighters from Rayleigh Weir will be offering advice at Hadleigh Country park between 10am and 2pm, supported the cycle safety team at Essex County Council and Essex Police.

9. CANVEY Island Rotary Club will be hosting Santa and his sleigh at Morrisons Supermarket, in Northwick Road on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 4pm. The sleigh is currently on a whistlestop tour of the island, and taking in Canvey streets until Friday, December 18. 10. FESTIVE music performers will entertain shoppers in Southend this weekend. Both professional and amateur choirs will give a performance in the Royals Shopping Centre, while the Salvation Army will be performing underneath the railway bridge in Southend High Street. The singing takes place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday.
