THIS Friday let your hair down, get your body moving and help raise funds for the Leigh Folk Festival, by going to a barn dance.

It's being led by those local ceilidh favourites, the Famous Potatoes, as part of the ongoing fundraising campaign for the annual event well known for being the largest free event of its kind in the UK, being held from June 23 until June 26.

Dances will be called by Keith Baxter and will be appropriate for all ages and abilities, with easy-to-follow instructions provided.

A real ale bar and food will also be available on the evening.

The Famous Potatoes have been together for 37 years making them a Leigh institution. Not only have they performed at events around the town, across the UK and overseas throughout their long existence, but they have played at just about every Leigh Folk Festival too, as well as having members who have been closely involved in the evolution and expansion of the event over the last 25 years.

The Leigh Folk Festival attracts an estimated 20,000 attendance across the weekend, and thanks to its reputation draws visitors to the town from right across the world.

Tickets for the barn dance - to be held at Leigh Community Centre, Elm Road, Leigh - can be obtained in advance from the venue as well as being available on the door.

Prices are £10.

The fun kicks off from 8pm until 11pm.
