IF you're into music you will of course know this year gigs are going on all over the UK to celebrate 40 years of punk.
Joining the proceedings are the White Dopes on Punk - a reportedly "secretive bunch of local musicians" who have recently appeared on the local music scene and bill themselves as "the UK's 19th best punk rock tribute band" - who'll be hosting a gig at the Venue in Westcliff this month.
They clearly don't take themselves too seriously, but rumour has it, they are a pretty impressive band and on the night, have let it slip that a few surprises may be in store in the form of "one or two very special guests".
White Dopes on Punk will be paying homage to original punk bands such as the Clash, Buzzcocks, the Stooges, the Damned, Sex Pistols and Magazine Vibrators.
Admission to the Venue, next door to the Cricketers Inn on London Road, Westcliff, is £5 on the door at 8pm, with no entrance allowed after 9pm.
It takes place on Saturday June 25.
