Tortoise rescued...from deckchair
A FIREFIGHTER came to the rescue when a giant tortoise got trapped under a garden chair.
The tortoise's owner called the emergency services when she could not free her pet.
Matt Furber, 41, cut a leg off the chair with a hacksaw to allow the tortoise to continue its journey around the garden in Ramsden Heath.

You really do have to wonder about the quality of stories and reporting in the Echo.
This non-story beggars belief as does the fact that a member of the Fire Service has been called up.
I have checked and it is not April 1st today!!!

I actually liked the story...and if you look on google you will see the Press Association put it out and it's on BBC Essex. Spose they're all wrong too are they? What utter nonsense you talk.

The fact that the valuable time of a fire-fighter was taken up could possibly be more relevant.
Why should I want to look at Google and see what the Press Association has to say about it?
You are right Michael: they are wrong and the utter nonsense is being written and spoken by people like you who believe that this is a so called story. But hey it is still a free world here and you are entitled to your opinion but I take offence in your view on my thoughts.

David, for someone who deosn't like the story you seem to keep coming back to look at it. I assume you do not, have not and will not work in the media and are an arm chair editor shouting at the weathermen on TV while hurumphing and tutting over your copy of The Telegraph as you judge what is news and what isn't but carry on looking and buying regardless. Not all news should be doom and gloom and there is room for happy stories like this. A for God's sake it's less than 60 words, not exactly a pslash is it!

Give the journalist a break.
Even in South East Essex there aren't enough knifings, murders, traffic accidents, explosions or council disasters to fill a whole newspaper every single day.
