Chippie changes raise fears

PROPOSALS to change the trading licence of a chip shop in Leigh's Old Town have been opposed by the town council because of fears it could become a takeaway.

The licence for the Old Chippy, in High Street, Leigh, requires it to offer waitress service.

The restaurant has applied to remove the condition and councillors fear it will lead to it becoming a takeaway.

Southend Council will make a final decision on the proposals.

Does it really matter ?

They're still just serving grub, whether the punters eat it indoors or take it away with them.

It may be just grub, but there is a tendency for the alfresco consumption from take-away
premises to result in discarded packaging. Constituting in a rubbish and vermin hazard within local area.
