Parents' vigil after motorboat horror
THE parents of schoolgirl Rebecca Coles, who is fighting for her life after a motorboat crash, are keeping a round-the-clock vigil in hospital.
Steve and Julie of Langdon Hills, are at the bedside of their 14-year-old daugher, who remains in critical condition in intensive care.
Rebecca was enjoying a family outing on the River Orwell, near Levington Marina, Suffolk, on Sunday when the accident happened.
She suffered a fractured skull, brain injuries and a broken leg when the rubber ring in which she was being towed by a speedboat, collided with a yacht.
Rebecca, who lives with her parents and younger sister Sophie, was taken to hospital in Ipswich, but due to the severity of her injuries was transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital, in Cambridge, where her condition has not improved.
Suffolk Police spokeswoman Anne-Marie Breach said: "Sadly, she remains in a very serious condition."
Rebecca is a pupil at Shenfield High School. On the social networking website Bebo.com, she says she has the "best mates in the world".
She wrote: "I'm kinda short, have medium length brown hair and brown eyes."
Suffolk Police are trying to piece together the moments leading up to the collision.

A horrible accident, and I'm sure everyone wishes her well.
Ok it's not the time to start laying the blame on anyone, but I would be interested to know who was driving the boat ?

All that matters here is the young girl that has been seriously hurt. now is not the time to ask about who was driving the blame so YOU can pass judgement...unless you were there you wouldnt know the facts but more than likely would come up with your own assumptions about what happened so you could blame someone. Have some respect for the family and Rebecca!!!!!!

Please don't lecture me on what is deemed respect.
I asked a simple question.
Lets try to have a thread that doesn't descend into righteous indignation, and telling others what they should be thinking.

I really, really hope that Rebecca is ok. I read the news and felt really upset. I still see Sophie, her younger sister because I used to go to primary school with her. I'm sure she is really sad and worried and I really hope that Rebecca gets well.

I do have sympathy for the young lady in question, and nowhere in my post did I try to lay the blame on anyone.

This is terrible. My two boys (John & Mathew) are both in Rebecca and Sophie's years at school - I see them both get on the bus every morning as I drop the boys off. Our thoughts go out to Steve, Julie and the girls - I really hope to see BOTH of them at the bus stop again soon.
