Boy, 11, rescued from tree

A BOY had to be rescued from a tree by firefighters after getting stuck.

The 11-year-old had climbed about 20ft up a tree in Blenheim Park, Leigh, and was unable to get down.

He had been holding on for about ten minutes before his friends called firefighters.

A firefighter used a ladder to reach and bring down the youngster who was unhurt.

Leading firefighter Rick Williams said: "He was OK, a bit sore where he'd been hanging on for a while and a bit scared."
