The wrong sort of shell to find on the beach
 |
| Safety class - Tony Newman, from QinetiQ, with Hamstel Infant School pupils |
A BEACH safety lesson from the Ministry of Defence was given to youngsters in Southend.
Pupils from Hamstel Infant School were taken to Shoebury East Beach by staff from QinetiQ, which operates the nearby MoD site.
Laura Rennolds, science co-ordinator at the school, said: "We always learn a great deal from the talk. The children learn not to touch strange objects because they could actually be dangerous."
QinetiQ's local community liaison officer, Nicki Uden, said: "We have lots of dummy ammunition shells and the kids really get a buzz out of seeing them."
