SCOUTS from Leigh got the chance to walk the corridors of power and take tea with politicians.
Leigh-based Scouts Gemma Woods and Donald Tinlin, both 13, were among a contingent of Scouts from across the UK invited to visit the Palace of Westminster, where they attended a lavish reception in the Speaker's House.
The two Scouts were invited by co-chairman of the all-party Parliamentary Scout Group and Southend West MP, David Amess.
During the afternoon, the visiting Scouts were able to chat informally with Chief Scout and former BBC Blue Peter presenter, Peter Duncan.
Donald and Gemma, who are both pupils at the Westcliff High Schools for Boys and Girls, have both been awarded their Gold Chief Scout Awards during the past year.
Mr Amess has been a lifelong supporter of Scouting and was presented with a framed certificate by Peter Duncan for his work.
