Man charged with theft following death at Benfleet railway station

A MAN is set to stand trial accused of trying to steal an overhead electrical cable at Benfleet railway station in an incident when a man died.

Mark Bradshaw has been charged with endangering railway passengers and attempted theft of electrical cable on June 27.

He is alleged to have put passengers in danger on the London to Shoebury line by cutting the overhead cable.

The man who died is believed to have been assisting Bradshaw in the theft.

Bradshaw, 43, from Canvey, Essex, has been bailed to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on November 12.
