Connor Diack given suspended sentence after admitting burglary in Basildon
3:10pm Wednesday 31st October 2012 in News By Emma Thomas
A “PROLIFIC” burglar escaped a custodial sentence after he convinced magistrates he was turning his life around.
Connor Diack admitted smashing a window of Billet Autosales on the Burnt Mills industrial estate in Basildon and stealing a Samsung camera worth £80.
The teen, of no fixed address, appeared at Southend Magistrates Court charged with the offence as well as breaching a previous court order by not attending drug tests.
The court heard he had recently started a full-time job and was trying to turn his life around.
He was given a three month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
He was ordered to pay £200 for the damage he caused to the window as well as £80 for the camera and £105 in court costs.
Chair of magistrates, Robert Caccavale, said: “You appeared here and were given a chance, we have thought long and hard and believe you haven’t wasted that chance. Ay progress, given your history, is good progress.”
Essex Police have applied for Diack, 19, to be made the subject of an ASBO banning him from roads across south Essex. His defence counsel, Paula Fell, contested this and a hearing was set for Tuesday, November 27 at Southend Magistrates Court.
He was given an interim ASBO which included barring him from entering Paycocke Road, Honywood road, Gardiners Lane South, Basildon, stopping him entering any school, college or church without a booked appointment and not to have of computers, games consoles or phones without receipts.

He needs locking up! End of!
The CPS/Courts are so soft it's just not funny.
Anyone want to start a sweepstake for when we'll see his name in the news again?

and it certainly puzzles me why the courts seem to take such lenient action against these feral individuals who can wreck peoples lives in some cases

Social engineering by both parties will be the norm, swinging from left wing to right wing every 5 years, under Labour Police will become Social workers under the Tories they will be Storm Troopers.
And lots of Chief Constables will be dismissed for whatever and replacements will be selected using the qualification of 'what party they belong to'
Very worrying.
