A DRIVER has died on the A13 after his car crashed into a stationary lorry in a lay-by.
The crash happened on the Stanford-le-Hope bypass just before 11am today, Wednesday, between the Five Bells interchange and the A1013 junction.
The two carriageways were initially closed in both directions while emergency vehicles were called to the scene.
The eastbound carriageway re-opened just after 12pm, but the London-bound carriageway will be opened and closed periodically to allow traffic to pass while police carry out investigations.
The investigation is likely to last another three hours.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101.
