"Popular" brothel raided by police "Popular" brothel raided by police

A BROTHEL, visited by more than 30 punters day, has been put out of action after it was raided by police.

Two women, both believed to be prostitutes, were arrested and one embarassed customer was led away by officers after the sex den was busted.

Police raided the tiny one-bedroom flat, which is directly behind the shops in Felmores End, Basildon, following a tip-off it was being used as a brothel called Nikki’s Massage.

On Thursday a team of police battered down the door of the sex den at around 11am.

Inside they found two women, one wearing just a basque, and a man thought to be a customer.

The living room of the tiny home - which is a privately owned property - had been turned into a makeshift sex den with a mattress on the floor, while both that room and a bedroom upstairs were littered with paraphernalia.

Officers seized various items including a “price list” outlining the various sexual acts offered by girls at the brothel and the price, sex toys, lubricants, uniforms and various racy outfits.

A female officer had to dress one of the women before both were led to the property in handcuffs.

The male customer, who was in his 50s, was not arrested but left with police to “help with their inquiries”.

While officers searched the tiny flat the phone - used by the brothel to book in their regular punters - was constantly ringing.

Sgt Simon Gray, who led the raid on the ground, hailed it a success.
He said: “This brothel has had an extremely negative impact on the local community.

“Fortunately in this case we received intelligence about this brothel and were able to act on it.

“We would urge anyone who has information about prostitution in the area to contact us and be assured that we will act on their information.”

Two women, aged 39 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in running a brothel. Both remain in custody where they are being questioned by police.

Better they do their business behind closed doors than on the street.

Everyone better sign in, just to prove that you're not the one helping the police with their enquiries.

It's no secret there are quite a few brothels around the area and its better this stuff happens behind closed doors than in cars/woods/parks and other public places, maybe we should run a Think! campaign against the police, Think! about the consequences before you go in all guns blazing!

Good point, who tipped of Noddy and Charlie the Clown photographer. I notice that the high profile case - purely for research purposes - got off on a not guilty plea! We have very serious crime in Essex - was this really a priority - surely assisting shopkeepers who are faced with aggressive assaults on a daily basis not to mention burglaries and affray's which are not addressed by the Police until days afterwards! The police are a voice in the wilderness who need our support perhaps in this case misguided by revenge?

shame on the police again, what harm are they doing? as long as they are here legally and pay tax like the rest of us, there are for more serious crimes in Essex for this amount of police time to be used, what a shame the police do not focus on the eastern european girls working from flats and even hotels like the campanile and travelodge, and shame on these hotels for allowing this to happen

"A female officer had to dress one of the women before both were led to the property in handcuffs"

I'd hope that was meant to read 'led _from_ the property'.

And as for the handcuffs ... whose? Well-equipped brothels can be expected to offer a decent selection of their own ... or so I'm told.

This is just a big misunderstanding was just walking past when my belt came undone and my trousers fell down and as i stopped to do them up i leant against a door and it swung open and i fell in and rolled across the floor and my money came out of my pocket and went everywhere and then all of a sudden the police came running in and got the wrong idea

Excellent work by the police, as these two women are a far-greater threat than muggers, rapists etc etc.

Still your statistics need to look good for the new commissioner!!

Maybe these customers were obtaining services they could not get ` at home`, without ` forcing` a partner against `their will`. Public service? Reducing ` domestic violence/intimidatio

Since when are the police, arbiters of morality, carried out behind closed doors. As long as `minors and the vulnerable` are not involved, surely their time could be spent more profitably in other activities.
Maybe i`ts because the council does not get it`s cut in `business rates` ect. Presumable the energy ( heating ect) suppliers gain out of this as well! ` Living off immoral earnings`? Prosecute them as well?

"Blimey ...this place has been running for a least 10 years ...I must say...Essex police are very quick at gathering evidence .."........yes you can mock, but they did mount an extensive covert operation and apparently it took well over a thousand under cover visits from the law to ascertain the true nature of this enterprise.

These places do need to be closed. It is a shame the police allow others to carry on.

The problem is that many of the girls working there are illegal in this country and their bosses certainly do not declare the income earned.

Single girls working from home are fine to be honest - it is the gangs that run multiple locations and move the girls from flat to flat need to be stopped.

We need to legalize prostitution in this country and regulate it like Holland does.

It took the police 10 years to raid the place acting on intelligence received. Pretty rubbish intelligence network. The brothel was the worst kept secret in Basildon

I really don't see why the police had to rely on a tip off as Nikki's Massage has made no secret of its existence and advertises quite openly on the internet. For those interested, there is even a price list !

I shall be enquiring as to whether they offer sex on the beach as a cocktail now that the Bas premises has been closed down.

My word! It's not cheap. I recently had a visit to S.E. Asia and can say that the most expensive intimate massage on offer was the 'Soapy with prostrate and hot oil' performed by a very attractive lady who guaranteed a happy ending. This for the equivalent of about £30. I have to admit, I was tempted.

Yes, the prices are a bit stiff . Hard on those with a low income.

Why oh why are they breaking down this door. The reason is because they wanted the glory shot for the Echo newspaper. This is poor. What justification was there to go in all guns blazing. Totally wrong and unjustifiable.
