A MAN has escaped after armed police descended upon a cannabis den in Langdon Hills.

Police helicopters, vehicles, police dogs and police with riot shields arrived at Amersham Avenue, Langdon Hills on Monday afternoon after a man who had been threatening his wife and children at an Essex hotel fled to the flat.

On raiding the flat at 5pm, the police found no sign of the man but did find cannabis growing in the downstairs property and the flat below.

The police are currently on the lookout for the man.

So a man threatens his wife and he gets every department of the police rushing to his flat????? Is this good use of the police or has the PCC decided that threats are a priority?

Another cockup by Essex police I see.

@fletch I believe they use 'minor' crimes / raids as an opportunity to practice for serious events. Apart from terrifying the locals its not a bad idea as long as they dont get trigger happy.

You don't know what he threatened them with and what he had in his possession - you don't know any of the facts to comment!!!

Maybe if Fletch and Madmax were more educated about the police force, they would know what circumstances warrant an armed response, and therefore not be so quick to spout off incorrectly?

I am very educated on the ways of EP and was commenting on the article that suggests that all the units were sent because of a domestic. If the Echo will not publish all the details then the public will get the idea that every copper and his friend will attend if someone makes threats. Sorry Clare999 if you felt I was "spouting off" but read the article and then see if you think the attendance was overkill.

Is it still an offence to grow cannabis? How silly.
