FRIENDS from the jazz circuit helped a singer raise more than £1,000 to fight the cancer that killed her husband with a memorial concert.

More than 20 musicians and singers rallied around Carol Braithwaite, of Westcliff, as she sang at the Park View, Chalkwell, in aid of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund last Thursday(JAN17).

It was her first performance since her husband, Keith, died the disease two days after their 46th wedding anniversary in October.

Mrs Braithwaite, who had Keith by her side when she last performed at Music in the Park in Priory Park in August, said: “It was emotional, but with that cause behind it and knowing how much people had rallied around, it was just wonderful.

“It meant everything to me.”
