West Leigh infants and junior schools plan year of events to mark 100th anniversary

A SCHOOL is celebrating its centenary this year with a host of community events.

West Leigh Infants and Junior schools have arranged the events to pay tribute to the generations of pupils, parents and staff that have been involved with the school over the last 100 years.

The schools are run separately and have different headteachers but they are getting together to mark the important milestone.

The year of events will be kicked off with a centenary dinner and ball on Saturday, February 2 at the Mill Hall in Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh. It will be open to all current and past pupils, parents and staff.

Both schools will be performing drama productions later in the year and in July, Ronald Hill Grove, Leigh, will be closed to traffic as the children enjoy an old-fashioned street party together.

The infants school has launched a special centenary website and both schools worked on a mosaic with Leigh artist Paul Siggins.
