SCOTLAND'S capital city Edinburgh has been announced as the latest place holidaymakers can fly to from Southend Airport.
The airport has revealed today that flights to the north of the border will be launched from May 2.

How about the canaries? Or are they too far for the class of planes they use at SEN?

Love the fact that Edinburgh is on the Easyjet map. My sister lives there so will soon be booking my ticket. Also, looking forward to the day I can fly to Paris. Does anybody know why it isn't a destination yet?

I know it won't happen, but if BA could emulate their LCY-JFK route from Southend that would be brilliant!

"Great News for getting up to Scotland quickly and cheaply. I make that 16 destinations now.......
Not bad for the first year of new operations."
I haven't heard a bad word from anyone I know that has USED the airport. The staff are reported as being extremely helpful and friendly. That means at least two posters here I know of, definitely don't work there. There again, being dreadful envious socialists (if their posts are anything to go by) they probably don't work anyway.
One of them will be along shortly to tell us how noisy it will all be.
I'd be interested to know where they live. The runway is at the end of my garden and I don't have a problem with the noise.
My neighbours are lovely people so it can't be them. :)

The airline will fly year-round flights to Marrakech three times a week on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the inaugural flight taking off on February 15th 2013.
easyJet will also operate a year-round twice weekly service to Sharm el Sheikh from Stansted Airport on a Thursday and Sunday with the first flight taking off on February 17th 2013.
The new Sofia route will operate twice a week on a Tuesday and Saturday and the first flight on the February 16th 2013.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager said: "Each season we decide where to add new flights based on the places our customers tell us they most want to visit, so I’m sure these three new summer sun destinations are going to be a huge hit with holidaymakers.
"Currently, easyJet operates two mid-haul routes from Stansted to Bodrum and Dalaman so today’s announcement shows a real commitment to offering more varied destinations further afield, and the best value for our passengers."
easyJet’s 2013 Summer schedule (up to Sept 8th 2013) from Stansted Airport now features 1.7 million seats on 10,900 flights to 27 routes across Europe and North Africa.

One of the few success stories in Southend at the moment and not half as noisy as the moaning minority constantly say.

You say "These flights look really good as well and it much easier to get to stanstead by rail if you live in the fenchurch street line area."
How when the Stansted Express leaves from Liverpool Street!
People close to the Fenchurch Street line only have to get a train to Southend and then a taxi/bus or walk up the High Street to Southend Victoria and get the train to the airport.
People on the Liverpool Street line onlt have to get the train to the airport station.
All in all Southend Airport has outstanding public transport conecations.

What's the point!!
Anybody wanting to fly to London from Edinburgh would actually fly to Gatwick which is far closer to London than Southend.
Southend is on the East Essex coast and on a bad day into London Liverpool Street it can take 2 hours by train. The train journey alone will be longer and more expensive than the flight.
So ...... If you actually want to fly to LONDON then may I recommend London Gatwick (which is actually in Sussex).
And there endeth Oor Man in London's geography lesson and top tip of the day.
