Water Lane finally reopened after two-month flooding
4:04pm Friday 22nd February 2013 in News By David Trayner
A ROAD closed due to flooding for more than two months has finally reopened after drains and ditches were cleared.
Watery Lane in Battlesbridge reopened to traffic at 3pm today after the county council finished pumping out flood water and cleared the drainage system.
Rochford District Council’s cabinet member for transport Keith Hudson, who was the first to drive through the now dry road, said: “I know from first-hand experience the inconvenience and frustration that this has caused our residents.
“I’m pleased to say that, by working in partnership with residents, as well as authorities such as the Environment Agency and the county council, we have managed to reopen Watery Lane.
“I’m also grateful that the county council have pledged to closely monitor the road in future to ensure that action is taken if these problems start to recur.”

Typical error in heading! It's WATERY LANE! Doesn't any body check before going to print? Every night there are always incorrect spellings or grammatical errors. I think school children must be writing the reports we see in the Evening Echo.
