Man left with broken jaw by robbers

A MAN was left with a broken jaw and eye socket after he was attacked by robbers.

The 51-year-old man was walking along London Road in Grays when he was attacked from behind.

He was knocked unconscious and suffered the severe facial injuries in the attack.

The raiders stole £40 from his pocket and he lay on the ground.

The attack happened at 10pm on Sunday February 17.

Poor man. Theft and mugging is becoming more commonplace these days. Not advocating criminal activity but benefit sanctions are not helping matters, people are becoming desperate and it will only get worse.

Not as though he had enough time to get home and get to the sofa or his bed before doing so.

Does it matter where he was coming from or going to? Since when have you not been able to go out on your own whatever time of the day? I hope these scum are caught and wish the man well.

There is something called shift work that you may not have heard of. For instance, staff in care homes, pumping stations, power stations , bus drivers, railway staff. They all work long hours on shift, and many of them never get the chance to spend time playing games on their governors computers. It's a little hard in the real world!
Oh, and have you noticed how many common taters on here post during office hours? Uncanny that!

Yes but I would still like to know what he was doing.

If he was coming home off a shift they should / could have said.

That's the problem with stories on this site, there is rarely any detail.

Investigating officer DC Rob Brook said: "The man went out to go for a walk and was on his way home when he was attacked. He managed to crawl back home and didn’t think his injuries were that bad. He went to bed but woke up feeling unwell and was taken to hospital by ambulance. He has received treatment for severe facial injuries."

So there we have it, he was not on shift work, not at the pub & not at church. He simply decided to go for a stroll at 10pm on a Sunday night and just simply decided to put 50quid in cash in his pocket before this stroll.
Also despite being " knocked unconscious and suffered severe facial injuries in the attack." he didnt call the police to report the (apparently) random attack & robbery nor did he bother to go to hospital until the next day when his injuries were so serious that he needed to call an ambulance.

But I'm your're right, Im sure he is just the innocent victim of this random & was certainly not up to no good.

Perhaps he was coming off shiftwork. Perhaps he is a leading Ballet dancer from the Westcliff ballet theatre. You've all seen the films about what happens to people after a knock on the head. It makes the memory go ****-eyed.

It will come back to him bit by bit if that is the case, meantime I hope his improvement is speedy and he makes a full recovery. Oh, and I hope the cyclist breaks his chain!

supermadmax, why is it, the tone of your posts always seems to indicate that the victim is not innocent? You posted some rubbish about that other bloke not committing any bad crimes.....

I do not understand your stance, it looks like you side with the criminals each time, in a coy kind of half said insinuation.

The guy got robbed. He was out walking. Are you saying that people should not go out walking after dark? Or that people who do are upto no good? Next, you will say that the bloke who got robbed was to blame, as he knows that after dark, the poor criminals may need to rob him to survive. Sheesh!

Muggers, burglars, deception thieves and scam artists are scum.

These crimes may not register in the media all the time, but robbing scuzzballs create fear, anxiety and ruin peoples lives. The sheer number of these crimes have risen over the last few years, it only looks to get worse.
