Problem teens given anti-social behaviour orders

Problem teens given anti-social behaviour orders Problem teens given anti-social behaviour orders

THESE two tearaways have been slapped with anti-social behaviour orders for making people’s lives a misery.

The Echo can officially name and shame Joseph Mearis, 18, and Kai Jager, 15, so our readers can inform police if they see them up to no good.

It comes after they committed a string of offences between them, including spraying graffiti tags, burglary, and theft.

This takes the number of these orders in Rochford to three - making it the Essex town with the most anti-social behaviour orders.

We had already reported in January how their pal, Joshua Garner, 17, of Meade Close, Billericay, had also been given a two-year anti-social behaviour order.

Chf Insp Ian Cummings, district commander for Rochford and Castle Point, said: “They’ve caused countless amounts of disorder, graffiti, intimidation and distress to member of the community with their behaviour. They’ve been committing petty crime, vehicle-associated crime, and theft so I’m very pleased that the orders have been issued.”

Jager appeared in custody from Warren Hill Young Offenders’ Institution having been jailed in November.

Jager became known for using the graffiti tag “Redz” while Mearis uses “Zulu”, which have both become common across Rochford district.

Jager, whose address was given as Warren Hill, will have an order lasting for two years. Mearis, of Parklands, Rochford, will be subject to his order until his 21st birthday - on Christmas Day 2015.

The pair are banned from:

-  associating with each other or Garner

- using threatening behaviour

- touching an unattended vehicle or going into anyone's garden without express permission of the owner

- entering the grounds of a railway station without buying a ticket and getting on the next train

- racing or driving at excessive speed in Rochford or Southend

- possessing spray cans, permanent markers, ink or rubber gloves in public.

-being drunk in a public place

There really is no deterrent to breaking rules, anymore. This country really has gone to pot. Why, oh why, are the authorities so scared to come down hard on lawbreakers?

Beating children with lumps of wood does nothing but teach them that it's acceptable to beat people with lumps of wood.

Capital/corporal punishments do not work as a deterrent.

Southchurch59 - wrong mate. I was at school and when they stopped corporal punishment I saw at first hand how kids who behaved suddenly turned into little toerags and I'm not proud to say I was one of them. The threat of a wallop kept me and many others in order. Nowadays teachers have nothing the kids fear and they know no discipline especially at home. I can just imaging the scumbag parents of these two - whatever anyone says they failed. The education system failed and the judicial system failed because these two little scumbags will be in and out of jail for the rest of their lives. Scum breeds scum and society cannot stop the cycle.

I was caned regularly until I was big and smart enough (aged 13) to refuse it.

The fact that I (and others) were caned (any) more than once, throws your 'threat of a wallop' theory out the classroom window for anyone other than the fearful and stupid.

Surely it is the ones who get caned more than once that are the stupid ones. Unless they enjoy paid, in which case they would welcome the opportunity.

'Unless they enjoy pain'

I know you jest, but as I recall, the only enjoyment gained by the (slightly noncy) act of caning - was all on the part of the sadist wielding the stick!
