Sickening: Grandmother's home burgled days after her death
6:00pm Monday 11th March 2013 in News
A GRIEVING son has hit out at the “vile” crooks who burgled his mother’s home days after she died.
Devastated Roger Gladman had not even laid his mum to rest when thieves smashed down her front door and ransacked her home.
He fears they may have even known his mother, Myra Gladman, 73, had died and were sick enough to have seen it as an opportunity.
Mr Gladman, 46, from Shoebury, said: “I can’t believe there’s vile people that have gone that low. I just want whoever did this to know that her son has said it’s foul.
“There were people around that knew she’d died, they’d gone straight through the front door so they knew no one was there.”
The break-in happened at Mrs Gladman’s bungalow in Sherwood Way, Southend, some time between Tuesday night and Thursday morning.
Her family are yet to find out exactly what was stolen.
Police confirmed they were investigating the incident and appealing for information. Anyone who can help should call Det Con Gail Wilkinson on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
