Police cordon off the scene outside Euro Lounge in Grays
DETECTIVES have launched a murder probe after a man believed to have been attacked outside a nightclub in the early hours of the morning.
The 35-year-old was out with friends at the Euro Lounge in Grays and it is thought he was assaulted outside in the car park area near Morrisons supermarket on London Road, at about 2.30am.
The man was taken to Queens Hospital in Romford with a serious head injury, from which he later died. His family have been informed, but the victim has not been formally identified.
Police urgently need to speak to any witnesses who were in the club or saw the assault in the car park.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating the death of a man in Grays this morning as murder and appealing for information and witnesses.”
Det Chief Insp Simon Parkes said: "This investigation is in its early stages. A man has died and I need to capture those responsible for his death. If you have any information please contact detectives at Grays on 101 or you can give information anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111."
