Work on new Triangle Shops to start this year

The now demolised site where the Triangle Shps once stood
WORK to resurrect the Triangle Shops from the ashes will start by the end of the year.
Basildon Council, who own the site on High Road, Langdon Hills, have already begun looking for an architect to draw up designs for a new parade of shops at the site.
It comes after the Tory-run authority have pledged an extra £150,000, in addition to cash paid out by insurers, for an improved rebuild of the fire-ravaged site.
Last week contractors finished clearing the wreckage of the parade of businesses which were destroyed by the blaze in January.
Talks are also under way between the council and newsagent Martin McColl’s into allowing the shop to operate a temporary store in the car park at the former Triangle Centre, although other businesses have not been offered the same option.
Five businesses went up in flames in January after a huge blaze broke out in the roof of Chinese takeaway Hong Kong House because of an electrical fault in an extractor fan.
McColl’s, the Elizabeth Louise Hair and Beauty Salon, the Chip Shop and a computer company that rented out a unit at the centre were all burnt to the ground.
