FLIGHTS to Bulgaria will be available from Southend Airport next year.

Balkan Holidays, the leading tour operator to Bulgaria, has announced it will be flying from Southend to Bourgas as part of its 2014 summer programme, offering departures on selected dates in May and September.

Alastair Welch, Southend Airport’s managing director, said: “Balkan Holidays fly state-of-the-art Airbus A320 aircraft, so passengers will arrive in Bourgas fresh and relaxed having enjoyed all the creature comforts these planes offer.”

Balkan Holidays is offering six destinations from the Bourgas area, including a coach tour for those who want to explore the country’s history and wine-producing regions.

Sunny Beach is a popular, purpose-built resort, while the towns of Nessebar and Sozopol attract those who like history, culture and architecture.

The resorts of Pomorie, Duni and Elenite will all suit families.

Southend Airport currently has flights to Amsterdam, Alicante, Barcelona, Belfast, Faro, Geneva, Ibiza, Jersey, Malaga, Mallorca and Venice with easyJet – while flights to Berlin, Krakow and Newquay started last month. There are daily returns available to Dublin and Thomson and First Choice Holidays also fly from Southend to Palma and Ibiza.

If, as it seems, it is feasible to use A320 aircraft from Southend then this would open up the prospect of destinations further afield, such as Malta, Athens and the Canary Islands :)

Now your showing just how weak you are you have not answered my question that I put to you at 10:32am this morning on Tuesday 2nd July in the year of 2013

So I will ask it AGAIN!

Why did you not make your same tired worn out pathetic comment on the Stansted to get £80m terminal development story as shown on this website in an article published at
4:50am on Thursday 20th June 2013,

The article did not make mention of any other airports so surely using your logic that an article that dose not inform people reading it of other airports that offer other services the news article is not a news article because of the afore mentioned lack of information relating to other airports and their services so therefore the news article becomes an advert.

So would you please clear this matter up was the Stansted Airport related article a news story or an advert I'm more than sure most people on here would be interested in your view on this matter.

Please don't expect reasonable or factual replies to legitimate questions asked of Jayman. As we all know, he has a fixed agenda which involves rubbishing everything to do with flying, (in general ), and Southend Airport, ( in particular). But , (also, as we all know), no-one takes him seriously and he does , ( as I have said before), provide some amusement with his stream of peculiar and inventive comments. ?.

Stansted is in a different league to Southend. I am happy to support long haul capacity.

As Stansted is an important driver to the national economy and as Stansted is long established, has a rail terminus, has a motorway connection then i am happy to support its growth.

Southend airport will come under the same pressure and decline as it has done in the past. once aviation capacity is increased at major airports, Southend airport will be dropped like a stone by the likes of easy jet.

'Its just business' the jobs that have been generated at Southend airport are as secure as a crampon in a Victoria sponge cake.

In light of this untenable and precarious position for airport jobs, who is it that is being irresponsible, me for bringing it into question, or you for blindly supporting it?
Either both are adverts or neither are you clearly lack the mental capacity and morals to be a man and give a direct answer so you fudge it.

Every newspaper needs it's comic strip.
as opposed to those with an agenda of supporting Southend Airport but being against the development of bigger and better airports in the area.

The airport still needs at least one other major scheduled airline such as Flybe or Ryanair operating a good range of flights to ensure future security, and could do with much more charter business.
Still, as has been said, the Airbus A320 does open up possibilities. The A321 would open up even more in terms of pasenger numbers, and could attract a lot of charter business, if the runway can cope with full aircraft of this size.

So is Southend you numpty it has a licence to operate passenger flights it has these things called aeroplanes so therefore it is a PROPER airport.

Your doing a great job at discrediting the nimbys.

Are you one of these losers that are more than happy to fly over somebody else's house but hate the thought of someone flying over yours as the vast majority of those against Southend Airport fall within the area.

To tar an entire nation because you have had a bad experience with some criminals betrays a degree of racism more suited to the Klan than modern day england.

Why did you not make your same tired worn out pathetic comment on the Stansted to get £80m terminal development story as shown on this website in an article published at

I responded to your question at 08:10 with a full and succinct reply. However, i now understand that i need to dumb it down a little for you to understand.

so here goes!

I am in support of Stansted because... are you ready?...... Its a proper airport!

I cannot make my viewpoint any less simple for you.
So why are stories regarding southend adverts and ones regarding stansted not?
Why are jobs at Southend Airport good, but jobs at an Estuary or Maplin Airport bad?

Jobs at Southen airport are good, because it is a thing that actually exists.

" A Proper Airport"
One with a runway, aviation fuel, fire and emergency services, a passenger terminal with refreshments and shops/customs/baggag
e handling/gates, etc, etc.
One with parking, transport links.
One that serves a number of UK and European destinations.
That would be, mm, let me see, Southend Airport then !!!!

all the thing you list are descriptive of an airport, yes! but a proper airport has this like.

motorway connections, dedicated rail service, long haul flight capability, multiple flight companies.

You hate to see jobs being created in Southend even more so when they are at the airport shame on you.
wow. such an emotive response. calm down dear. its only an airport.
here, i will try again,

Why did you not make your same tired worn out pathetic comment on the Stansted to get £80m terminal development story as shown on this website in an article published at
4:50am on Thursday 20th June 2013,

I responded to your question at 08:10 with a full and succinct reply. However, i now understand that i need to dumb it down a little for you to understand.

so here goes!

I am in support of Stansted because... are you ready?...... Its a proper airport!

I cannot make my viewpoint any less simple for you.
So why are stories regarding southend adverts and ones regarding stansted not?
Why are jobs at Southend Airport good, but jobs at an Estuary or Maplin Airport bad?
Jobs at Maplin/Estuary airport aren't bad, I said that the Maplin/Estuary airport is a pipe dream.

Jobs at Southen airport are good, because it is a thing that actually exists.
are the jets at Southend powered by snake oil?

because Southend was a modest expansion, the Thames Estuary airport is a whole new airport that will effect far more people and over 80% of the airlines at Heathrow have said they would NOT use. They have said they would move long haul service outside the Southeast with many heading to main land Europe with just shuttle services operating to UK airports.

The cost, environmental impact and the fact that the seabirds would put any Thames Estuary airport in the most dangerous category make it an airlines worst nightmare.

You also have to take into account that the displacement of so much water would cause major issues to Southend and other towns along the cost, you also need to take into account that shipping channels to the new DP London Gateway Port would be effected and that the weapons testing and disposal site at Foulness could cause a bit of an issue!

" A proper airport"
all the thing you list are descriptive of an airport, yes! but a proper airport has this like.

motorway connections, dedicated rail service, long haul flight capability, multiple flight companies.

Possibly one of the lamest replies you have given in a long time, hardly worth a response , ( but I will anyway ).

"Multiple flight companies ( multiple- more than one, check this in a dictionary if you have and can use one) ).
Easyjet, Air Eirann, charter flights, now Balkan Holidays , (initially a couple of flights but possibly more 0. I think that is "multiple".

" Dedicated rail service", ridiculous, you are rubbishing all of the Scottish, Northern Ireland, and Eire Airports, none of which have dedicated rail links, (or any kind of rail link in some cases) ), also, if you ever left the country, ( ho-hum) you would find the same applies to many major European Cities, even capitals. Stupid thoughtless comment therefore.

" Long Haul Flights" , pretty much the same comment, many major European City airports have only European flights, similarly with motorway connections.
Your somewhat stupid and inane comments, ( as ever), have just written off airports all over Europe as being not " proper airports", how sad, what a plonker as Del boy might say.

( Should we tell them, do you think ). He gets worse by the day with his comments, no thought or logic is now going into them whatsoever, just mindless drivel.
Forgot to suggest that Jayman gets or uses a dictionary,( if he can use one ), to check the word " multiple - ie, more than one".
I checked the airport flight companies and came up with 4, even if 2 are charters.
I think that's more than one.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot make my viewpoint any less simple for you.
So why are stories regarding southend adverts and ones regarding stansted not?
Why are jobs at Southend Airport good, but jobs at an Estuary or Maplin Airport bad?
because Southend was a modest expansion, the Thames Estuary airport is a whole new airport that will effect far more people and over 80% of the airlines at Heathrow have said they would NOT use.

What a ridiculous comment. The pro airport posters can see the fact that the airport is a massive success story. Jayman cannot abide to see anything that is related to SBC which he hates being successful and the anti brigade cannot see beyond the fact they they have to "suffer" a bit of noise as they have chosen to live near an airport. Time they all grew up and accepted they live in a community and that the world does not revolve around them.

Idiot !!!, Probably most of them are like me who have no connection with the airport, don't have friends or relatives working there or any other obscure connection. We do, however, fully support the airport and are probably in a majority, ( huge I suspect), who do.

will effect far more people... would that be nimbys, or some other group of people who would be happy to have a local airport as long as it doesn't fly over their house
over 80% of the airlines at Heathrow have said they would NOT use... so stick with the other 20%. When they work out how much fuel they will save across the atlantic and that the journey time is shorter and that their competitors are using it and taking their customers then they will use it.
They have said... they have also said increases in taxes will have a severe effect on flights. They say what is politically expedient at the time. Believe everything they say at your peril.
The cost... if someone is prepared to pay for it then good luck to them
The seabirds... a few birds of prey based in the area should help.
Displacement of water... I'm no expert in physics, but I'd have thought it would spread out evenly over the planet. There would be an environmental impact survey on how the tides would be affected.
Shipping channels... they'd still be there, it's not going all the way across the estuary at sea level.
Weapons testing... any S106 agreement would have to allow for relocation.

Thats your points answered. Now the final question, which I asked before, and which you avoided in your answer. Surprising really, as you yourself are very critical, to the point of being insulting, when other people avoid your questions, but anyway lets try again. Why are jobs at Southend Airport good, but jobs at an Estuary or Maplin Airport bad?
