A DUO are to tackle a gruelling 100 miles on by bike after a double cancer heartbreak.
Dad-of-two Mike Salmon, 49, of Wickford, was shocked last year when his 19-year-old son Daniel was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Mr Salmon and his friend Jason Reyonlds saddled up and raised £2,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust by cycling 25 miles across Worcestershire and now his son is in remission.
But shortly after their ride, Mr Reynolds received the news that his wife, Karen, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
The duo will now saddle up again and join 20,000 riders on a London to Surrey ride after Mike pledged to help out his friend in exactly the same way.
Mr Salmon said: “Cancer has always been a part of my life as it took my mum away when I was 15, and various cousins, uncles and aunts have been affected by it."
