A WOMAN in her eighties was robbed of her handbag which contained cash earlier this week on Rylands Road, Southend.

The incident occurred just before 11am on July 29, following the woman being approached by a man who demanded her bag and removed it from her shoulder.

It is thought the woman was on her way home after visiting the Post Office on Lonsdale Road.

Police said the woman’s bag contained her purse and a two-figure sum of cash.

The suspect is described as a white man aged 30-40, medium build and was wearing navy blue tracksuit bottoms and no top.
