New demo over threatened school
3:30pm Wednesday 21st August 2013 in News
CAMPAIGNERS will again be taking the fight to save the Deanes School to County Hall.
Protesters will be marching through the streets of Chelmsford next week, hoisting their banners, waving placards and chanting messages in a bid to show bosses at Essex County Council that the battle goes on.
The three-hour protest will take place from 12 noon, in Market Road, on Friday, August 30, days before county councillor Ray Gooding makes his decision on whether to close the Thundersley school. Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris will be joining the families to support the campaign and will give a speech on their behalf.
The demo comes after a parent lodged an official complaint last week with the Local Government Ombudsman calling for the figures used in the school’s consultation to be investigated by an independent invigilator.
