Hospital to discover size of fine over legionella outbreak
10:13am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
A HOSPITAL which failed patients in a chronic legionella infestation is due to discover the size of the fine it will face.
Six other patients were infected at the hospital - one of 14 named by NHS England medical director Professor Sir Bruce Keogh's report into abnormally high numbers of deaths - during the same period.
The hospital has admitted failings under the Health and Safety at Work Act and bosses will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for sentencing.
Judge David Turner heard the details of the case on Tuesday and is expected to deliver his final sentencing, likely to be a hefty fine.
