Girl, 3, airlifted to hospital following crash in Canvey

A LITTLE girl has been airlifted to hospital after being knocked down by a car.
Emergency services were called to North Avenue, Canvey at about 12.05pm after the three-year-old was hit by a black Ford Focus.
Witnesses said the young girl had run out into the road as the car was coming around a bend.
The air ambulance was called and she was flown to the Royal London Hospital with suspected head injuries, although they are not thought to be immediately life threatening.
Police were forced to shut the road between Little Gypps Road and East Crescent while crews attended the scene.
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: "Police are currently at the scene of a road collision with a child pedestrian and a car in North Avenue, Canvey which was reported at 12.05pm.
"The road is currently closed and the child, a girl, has been air lifted to the Royal London Hospical. The vehicle involved was a black Ford Focus."
