Brand is back - and look what he's reading!
3:30pm Monday 21st October 2013 in News
COMEDIAN Russell Brand packed out a Southend theatre as part of his worldwide Messiah Complex tour.
Tickets to see the 38-year-old comedian perform the tenth show of his UK dates at the Cliffs Pavilion were completely sold out.
John Bowles, 24, from Hornchurch was one of more than 1,650 people who went to the show.
He said: “Russell came out clutching a copy of the Echo and said he could relax now that he was back, and made the point he’d even worn a white blazer for the special occasion.
“He spent about ten minutes flicking through the paper and talking about how he’d once been punched while waiting for a kebab on the seafront.
“He obviously hasn’t forgotten his Essex roots, and after sifting through the news on stage he flipped to the back to see what was happening at Roots Hall. He even brought his mum along.”
Brand, who was born and raised in Grays, tweeted his followers before the show to say: “Essex!

Tickets are selling fast for his four remaining dates at the Cliffs Pavilion on Wednesday, December 4, Friday December 6, Monday March 10 and Tuesday March 11.
