FAMILY businessman Trevor Cottis’s final journey to Southend Crematorium was one he wished for – on the back of a flat-bed truck.
Mr Cottis, 51, died on October 10 after a battle with cancer.
He was the founder of TJ Cottis Transport which was established in Rayleigh in 1999 first specialising in tipper hire and more recently in skip hire.
His family laid him to rest at Southend Crematorium.
His coffin was carried on the back of a Toyota Hilux from his son Jedd’s home in Chelmsford, where Mr Cottis had been staying with his wife Sharron.
Jedd said: “It was one of his wishes to be driven on the back of a pick-up. It symbolises what he did.
“My dad was really well known in Southend. He was born in Great Wakering and his business was based in Rayleigh.
“Its a real family thing. My mum is taking over as MD and myself and my sister Shannon are directors.”
